Any of you who\u2019ve read my articles might remember 6 months ago I wrote an article titled 5 Clear-Cut Reasons You Should Blog on Your Remodeling or Home Builder Web Site (even if you hate to write)<\/a>. <\/em>Given that \u2013 you may be wondering, \u201cWhat the heck\u2019s gotten into Mike? Has he gotten even wackier than 6 months ago and lost his mind? First, he tells me I need to blog, now he says don\u2019t blog. What\u2019s up with that?\u201d<\/p>

The simple answer is yes, I\u2019ve gotten wackier in the last 6 months. I know this because I love to learn, laugh and grow along the way. I think wackiness is the key to growth and enjoying running a business more.<\/p>

However, no I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve lost my mind. Well \u2013 at least I don\u2019t think so<\/em><\/strong>. However, the more I blog, the more I know blogging IS NOT the \u2018quick and easy\u2019 way to riches. You may ask why I know this?<\/p>

Well \u2013 I\u2019ve lived it. I\u2019ve written (while most sane people are sleeping) over 800 posts which are 1,500 to 2,500 words long. I\u2019ve been on podcasts and spoken to groups about getting digital results while running a remodeling and building material distribution business.<\/p>

I\u2019m getting over 130,000 monthly visitors and emailing over 29,000 email subscribers while writing on 4 blogs. I\u2019ve seen digital leads grow dramatically. I\u2019m a weird dude (yes \u2013 I know that). I\u2019m a \u2018writing maniac\u2019 in an industry where most people HATE, HATE, HATE to write.<\/p>

So, why am I now saying you shouldn\u2019t <\/em>blog on your remodeling or home building site (all while writing a blog post to tell you this? Can you see the irony?).<\/p>

Well read the 10 reasons below \u2013 and I bet you\u2019ll see at the end where I\u2019m coming from. \u00a0<\/p>

Reason #1 <\/strong>you shouldn\u2019t blog on your remodeling or building web site\u2013 <\/strong>It\u2019s too much work <\/strong><\/h2>

If you\u2019re looking for the \u2018quick and easy\u2019 path to digital marketing success blogging ISN\u2019T it.<\/p>

Blogging takes time. Time to write. Time to edit. Time to find images. Time to resize images and create \u2018alt\u2019 tags. Time to upload the post. Time to distribute the post on social media. Time to email the post to your list. If this sounds like a \u2018lotta\u2019 work \u2013 you\u2019re right. It is.<\/p>

Bottom line \u2013 if you\u2019re looking for immediate gratification. Stop the train. Don\u2019t write even one single blog post. You\u2019re wasting your time! Blogging will take time (whether it\u2019s your time, someone\u2019s time on your team or a company you outsource this task to).<\/p>

Don\u2019t believe anything you read which says blogging is FREE! It\u2019s only free if you\u2019re going to DIY all of it and IF your time is worth nothing!

Blogging takes time. Time = Money.<\/h3>

Reason #2 you shouldn\u2019t blog on your remodeling or building web site\u2013 You say, \u201cI have no frickin\u2019 idea what to write about.\u201d <\/strong><\/h2>

This is a real challenge. Talk to any blogger (or podcaster or video creator) and if they tell you\u2019ve they\u2019ve never struggled developing topic ideas\u2013 I\u2019d tell you they\u2019re lying.

However, with that being said \u2013 topics (\u2018er problems and questions) are literally staring you in the face. Listen to what customer are asking on the phone or at in-home presentations. Read blogs (from other industries) with catchy titles and \u2018spin them up\u2019 for the products or services you provide. Think about new products you offer and how they make a space beautiful or make your customer\u2019s life easier.<\/p>

Sure \u2013 topic creation isn\u2019t easy \u2013 but it can be done. Hot topics are the igniter to hot results.

Reason #3 you shouldn\u2019t blog on your remodeling or building web site\u2013 You say, \u201cI can\u2019t put 2 words together \u2013 just ask my high school English teacher.\u201d <\/strong><\/h2>

Many people got into \u2018the trades\u2019 (I would restate this as say the building industry though) because they HATED \u2018school-work.\u2019 Writing was on the top of their \u2018pain-in-the-rear\u2019 list. And blogging involves writing. There\u2019s no 2 ways (or 3 ways for that matter) about it.<\/p>

So how are you going to blog if you hate to write?<\/p>

It\u2019s simple YOU\u2019RE NOT GOING TO BLOG\u2026but you can still have a blog. How, you may ask?<\/p>

Just like the electrical and plumbing on your jobs, you\u2019re going to \u2018sub it out.\u2019<\/p>

Do what you do best. Hire out the rest.<\/p>

Hire a digital marketing company to blog for you. Find a freelance writer to blog for you. No matter what you do, pay attention to 2 keys when choosing the \u2018write\u2019 (yes \u2013 bad pun intended) person to do the work for you.<\/p>
