Step 1) Innovate shower designers will figure out the size and shape of glass block wall using layout cards. And if you’d like we’ll email these cards to you so you can ‘see’ how your glass block shower will ‘live’ in your bathroom.
Step 2) Your clear or colored glass block wall will be prefabricated in simple to install sections (most weigh between 40 to 60 lbs.). They install like LEGO blocks. You (or your contractor) will stack one section on another.
Step 3) Order a solid surface or ready for tile shower pan custom designed to fit your colored (or clear) glass block wall sections.
All the frosted and colored glass blocks are made in a 7 1/2″ x 7 1/2″ x 3 1/8″ size. Note – these are a metric-sized blocks and cannot be used with American sized blocks.
Yes and no. Since the ‘group 2’ blocks (bold shades) group is only for interior uses – you won’t want to use it with the other 2 series for a window project. For interior glass block showers – you can use all 3 series of blocks together.
The best way to finish off the end of a glass block wall is with a finished bullnose end block. Although there are 4 different colored glass block ends, there are many colors which are not available with finished ends. In these cases use a solid surface or granite cap to finish off the end.
Since the glass block walls are assembled with pre-made vinyl strips with the Protect All fabrication system, they’re simple to install. You simple stack one section on another (even if the sections are curved).
Glass block windows are made as complete sections (with or without a frame). They are a simple, modular installation. You won’t need to waste time (and spend a bunch of money) hiring an expensive mason who will install them block by block. The prefab method is not only quicker, but you’ll have smaller joints and install if far less time (saving you money).
