Well – the short answer is both doors make sense, depending on your goals.
If you want a lower cost shower door which seals best around the door and is lighter to install (because the glass is generally thinner), the framed shower door will be best.
On the other hand, if you want more light in the shower (because there’s less framing), a better view of your wall panels or tile and a glass system which is simpler to clean – the semi-frameless glass shower door is best.

A framed shower door provides the tightest seal at the sides between your glass framing and your shower surround wall panels or tile. It’s for this reason, a framed shower door is the preferred choice for a sauna.
The majority of glass shower door sold are made with clear glass. See through glass is most popular because it costs less than obscure glass, it’s best to see stylish shower wall panels or custom tile patterns and it can make the shower feel bigger. The advantages of obscure glass are you’ll have more privacy and it’s harder to see spotting on the glass.
